What Makes Belize Unique

Unlike the Maldives (a 20-hour journey from the US), Belize is reachable in 2–4 hours from most American hubs. Direct flights land at Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport, and from there, a 20-minute domestic hop on Tropic Air puts you in San Pedro.

Belize offers the overwater experience with something extra: the Belize Barrier Reef (a UNESCO World Heritage Site, second in the world only to Australia's Great Barrier Reef), ancient Maya ruins, jungle adventures, and one of the most relaxed, welcoming cultures in the Caribbean.

What to Expect in an Overwater Bungalow

At Lina Point, our overwater cabanas are built on stilts above the Caribbean with glass-bottom panels in the floor — watch fish swim below your feet. Each cabana has a private over-water deck with lounge chairs and a direct sea ladder for swimming at any hour.

Sunrise views across the reef, air conditioning, and fast WiFi — luxury without sacrifice. The decks face open water, away from neighboring rooms, so mornings belong entirely to you.

Best Time to Visit

Dry season (November–April): Warm days (80–88°F), low humidity, best water visibility for snorkeling and diving. Peak season — book early.

Shoulder season (May, September–October): Fewer crowds, lower rates, and still beautiful. Brief afternoon showers keep things lush. Water stays warm year-round (79–84°F).

Peak (July–August): School holiday season — book 3+ months ahead for best availability.

Activities & Getting Around

From Lina Point you can reach Hol Chan Marine Reserve & Shark Ray Alley in 15 minutes by boat. San Pedro Town is a 5-minute golf cart ride. Secret Beach (west side, calm flat water) is 30 minutes by golf cart.

The Great Blue Hole — Jacques Cousteau's famous 300-foot sinkhole — is a full-day trip departing from San Pedro. Ancient Maya ruins at Lamanai and Xunantunich are accessible as day trips to the mainland.
